"Belly
Dancing is a dance of isolation, in which various parts and centers
of the body are moved individually, independant
from each other, yet end up forming a unity. It's rhythm originates
from inside, from the elemental sound of the heartbeat we first heard
in our mother's womb. If a woman wishes to bring new life into
the world, she must have this life force, of which Belly Dancing
is an age old expression" Rosina-Fawzia Al-Rawi
Jessica
has explored various forms of Classical, Jazz, Modern, traditional
African and Middle Eastern dance. Finding her passion through
the hypnotic forms of Tribal and Temple Belly Dance, this has evolved
into her own unique prayer.

Jessica
dances solo and with Dance La Femme,
a group of ten women who's emphasis is on advanced troup performance
using the combined harmonic rhythms of a group to present the subtle
elegance of tribal, temple and folkloric belly dance.

The Flaming Graces
bringing the element of fire into the dance....
When
the tongues of flame are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the first and the rose are one.
– T. S. Eliot, from Four Quartets
Fire
has been used ceremonialy in dance for thousands of years, particularly
throughout Asia and South
Pacific. The use of 'Poi' balls dates back over 1000
years and was used in Japan
and by the Maori tribes of New
Zealand as an exercise to train for dexterity, hand~eye coordination
and strength.
The Maori women used the art of poi to keep supple
and flexible, and adapted it as a form of dance, which they performed
at tribal ceremonies.
With it's hypnotic, rhythmic motion and mesmerizing serpentine
traces, the power of the fire element illuminates the fluid forms
of the dance.
The Flaming
Graces are Jessica Lynn, Luciarose and
the inimitable Rosalia.
